2. The Passion of the Lord According to Mark
This choral work, written for SAT choir, soloists, narrator, and piano, consists of a musical setting for the Passion of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospel of Mark, the Gospel reading given on Palm Sunday in many Christian churches. The setting is meant to take place of the orally-recited version of the scripture. Soloists and choir sing some of the spoken (character) parts in the Gospel verses. The story narration is read by a narrator over piano chord vamping. The work takes about 25 minutes to perform.
