3. The Passion of the Lord According to Matthew
This choral work, written for SATB choir, soloists, narrator, and piano, consists of a musical setting for the Passion of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel reading given on Palm Sunday in many Christian churches. The setting is meant to take place of the orally-recited version of the scripture. Soloists and choir sing the spoken (character) parts in the Gospel verses. The story narration is read by a narrator over piano accompaniment. The work takes about 30 minutes to perform.
