1. Presentation: “Traveling the Life-Journey as Cancer Survivors and Supporters of Cancer Survivors”
This two-hour presentation featuring music, personal stories, and information is designed to help those living with cancer and their supporters reflect upon their emotional responses, affirm their feelings, and explore spiritual tools to deal with stress caused by cancer.
2. Study Sessions: “Surveying the World’s Religions”
Through six series of study sessions, participants will explore the history, core beliefs, practices, holy days, and sacred texts of each religion. Religions to be surveyed include: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Daoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Baha’i, Indigenous Traditions. Sessions will be led by Dr. Evelyn Steiner Sánchez, an instructor of world religion courses at Scottsdale Community and Phoenix Colleges.
Dates of Series:
Series 1 – Hinduism and Buddhism; Mondays, June 29-July 20, 2009
Series 2 – Jainism, Daoism, Confucianism, and Shinto; Thursdays, August 27 – Sept. 24, 2009
Series 3 – Zoroastrianism and Judaism; Thursdays, October 22 – November 12, 2009
Series 4 – Christianity; Thursdays, February 4-25, 2010
Series 5 – Islam, Sikhism, and Baha’i; Thursdays, March 25 – April 15, 2010
Series 6 – African and Indigenous Traditions; Thursdays, May 28 – June 17, 2010

Cost: $70 for series of four sessions paid two weeks in advance
$80 for series of four sessions paid at the first session
$20 for each individual session
3. Study Sessions: “Exploring Common Themes in World Religions”
In fall 2010, Sojourner Support, LLC will present five series of study sessions on discovering common themes across some of the major religions of the world. Themes will include
(Series 1) The Sacred Reality and Worldview, (Series 2) Belief Systems, (Series 3) Sacred Practices, (Series 4) Peace and Social Justice, and (Series 5) Gender Roles. Sessions will be led by Dr. Evelyn Steiner Sánchez, an instructor of world religion courses at Scottsdale Community and Phoenix Colleges. Dates and times TBA.
